ABOUT WEARFORWARD
WearForward started in July of 2020 as a one-woman, online-only idea with a lot of heart and very little margin for error.
At the time, I had a one-year-old, had just left my job as a marketing manager, and knew one thing for sure: I loved shopping secondhand and I wanted to build something of my own. I rarely bought anything new, and I believed there was a better way to shop, sell, and keep good clothing moving forward.
With no startup capital and no storefront, WearForward began entirely online. I found consignors through Facebook and Instagram, packed my car, and drove to people’s homes to pick up clothing piece by piece. In August of that year, I launched our website and leaned hard into social media. That first month, WearForward did just over $5,000 in sales as a fully online shop.
Not long after, a tiny storefront opened up in my hometown of Lowell, Michigan. It was about 500 square feet, and it changed everything.
BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP
As the business grew, so did the space. About two years later, WearForward moved into a 1,500 square foot location. Then in July of 2025, we moved into what we now call home: nearly 3,000 square feet inside a beautifully renovated historic building in downtown Lowell.
This has always been a bootstrapped business. Every move, every expansion, and every decision has been made with intention, community, and sustainability at the center.
Today, WearForward is a place where secondhand shopping feels elevated without being exclusive. We believe resale should feel exciting, welcoming, and accessible, not overwhelming or picked over.
MORE THAN A STORE
WearForward was built on a few core principles that still guide everything we do:
-
Making secondhand shopping feel approachable and thoughtfully curated
-
Creating a space where people of all sizes feel seen and welcome
-
Keeping money circulating within the local community through consignment
-
Offering affordable options without sacrificing style or quality
Our model allows us to keep prices reasonable, pay our consignors fairly, and continue growing without losing what makes us special.
LIFE AND BUSINESS, ALL IN ONE
I’m a single mom, and I live right above the store. The line between work and life is very thin around here, and WearForward is deeply personal to me. This business has grown alongside my life, not separate from it.
Now in our sixth year, one of the biggest focuses is expanding our online store so WearForward can be accessible beyond our small town. Whether you shop with us in person or online, the goal is the same: to make secondhand shopping easier, more enjoyable, and something you actually want to come back to.
WELCOME IN
Whether you’re here to shop, swap, sell, or just browse, we’re glad you found us. WearForward is proof that something meaningful can be built slowly, intentionally, and with a whole lot of heart.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
